RECYCLE YOUR OLD COMPUTER AT GSLC

Do you have a computer sitting around the house that you no longer use?  Good Shepherd is now collecting working and non-working computers that we will give to a charity that re-purposes old technology and environmentally recycles anything that cannot be used.

Here is what is accepted:

 - All computers - working and non-working
 - Cables, cords, or any components (e.g. sound cards, motherboard)
 - Working 17" black monitors (We cannot accept non-working monitors or those in colors other than black)

The following items are NOT accepted:

 - Monitors in colors other than black
 - Printers

To donate your old computer or equipment, simply bring it to church and place it in the designated area of the storage room at the back of the library. Stop at the lobby reception desk if you have questions or need assistance.

GSLC member, Paul Colborn, is leading this new recycling program. Feel free to contact him at paul.colborn@gmail.com or call Pastor Larry at the church office.

 SHOVELING FOR JESUS
Minimize

Did you know that our good neighbor, Trio Restaurant, provides the snow removal and salting of our entire parking lot? But we must shovel our sidewalks... and that's where we need some help.

We are looking for up to 10 individuals this winter – adults or teens – who will VOLUNTEER to shovel our sidewalks as needed prior to 5:00PM Saturday services and/or 8:00AM Sunday services. Volunteers would need to arrive at least one hour prior to the start of the service in order to clear the snow from the five entry doors and sidewalks around the church – and spread ice melt – so that worshippers can safely enter the church.

The church has three shovels and ice melt. Volunteers, however, would be advised to bring shovels, just in case. If several folks showed up each time, the job would go very quickly!

Are you willing and able to pitch in this winter? If so, please contact Pastor Larry or the Church office at 513.891.1700 or ldonner@goodshepherd.com

Paid Position Available, Too!

We are also looking for one person for a paid position to shovel walks on weekday mornings as needed prior to 8:00AM in order to prepare for our Nursery School classes that begin at 9:00AM. If interested, please contact Pastor Larry.

SUPERMARKET GIFT CARDS AUGMENT MINISTRY TO HUNGRY

Gift cards in any amount up to $25.00 help us provide people in need with food, medicine and gasoline for their cars so that they can get to work. Donations will be credited to the donors’ offering statements.

You can increase the impact of your donation by obtaining Kroger gift cards from the Good Shepherd Nursery School, which will receive 4% of the total on the cards as a donation from Krogers! So for every $25.00 gift card you donate, the Nursery School will get $1.00 from Krogers and the recipient of the card will still be able to get $25.00 worth of food or medicine or gasoline.

Contact Pastor Larry if you have questions. Thanks for your kindness and mercy toward those in need.

 MINISTRY IN TANZANIA

One way Good Shepherd tries to fulfill its purpose of "making Word and Sacrament available to the greatest number of people as possible" is through its financial support of an ELCA missionary by the name of Nancy Stevenson. Nancy teaches English to students at Makumira University College - the national university of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania (ELCT).Students at Makumira seminary must learn to speak, read and write English. Nancy is the teacher who helps make that happen. She has been teaching at Makumira since 1979. Good Shepherd had the pleasure of a visit from Nancy during her 2008 trip back to the States for vacation.

Learn more about Makumira at http://www.makumira.ac.tz/home.html.

 MEALS FOR FAMILY EMERGENCIES
Minimize

We all need food -- even in times of trouble. Sometimes a family needs help with this most basic of tasks due to an emergency of some sort (a death in the family, a sudden family illness or a hospitalization). That’s why Arlene Wojcieszak and a team of volunteers here at GSLC prepare and deliver “emergency” meals for Good Shepherd families in need. A soup, salad, bread and dessert is a typical meal that is delivered . Right now, Arlene’s team is in need of an additional 10 -12 new volunteers to continue this ministry. So, if you can prepare and deliver 2-3 meals a year to a Good Shepherd family in your area, please call or e-mail Pastor Pat at pbadkey@goodshepherd.com and let her know of your willingness to help out!
