Consider seating children up front so they can see the action and feel more a part of the service. Church Bags for Kids, filled with quiet play toys, are on a rack at the entrance to the worship center. A “quieting room” is located at the back of the worship area and a professionally-staffed nursery for babies and toddlers is open Sundays from 8:00AM-12:30PM in the east wing.
Students learn about and experience faith in a variety of ways. At Good Shepherd, we encourage students to attend both Sunday School and worship with their parents regularly.
Sunday School is offered for students ages 3 through high school during September - May at 9:30 and 11:00AM. Click here to learn more.
Additional Faith Formation enrichment activities and events are scheduled throughout the year to foster your child's faith journey.
- For Tweens: Grades 4, 5, & 6
Monthly activities are enjoyed by all, such as a game night/sleepovers at the church. Scheduled throughout the year are service projects, such as serving dinner to Over-the-Rhine residents or planning dinner for residents and their families at the Ronald McDonald House. Tweens are also invited to go to Camp Lutheridge in North Carolina for a week in the summer. Click here to view our calendar of events for 2013-14.
Parents play an important part in the confirmation ministry program at Good Shepherd. Parents are key to their child's faith development and to their relationship with the church. In the confirmation program, parents are expected to be partners in the following ways:
1. Parents discuss five faith topics in the home with their child.
2. Parents encourage their child to go to Sunday school and church weekly.
3. Parents encourage their child to attend Confirmation events
4. Parents help chaperone at least one retreat each program year.
Confirmands have responsibility for preparing for their faith development and for their affirming of their faith. We believe this can happen by being open in their discussion of their faith and to their relationship with Jesus. We trust that this will happen by:
1. Attending Sunday School and worship weekly.
2. Attending all the retreats and Confirmation events.
3. Participating in service activities.
4. Discussing faith topics in their homes.
- For Senior High: Grades 9-12
The class builds relationships through discussion and small group activities around topical issues related to faith and Bible. This class also functions as the weekly youth group meeting time for Senior High students at GSLC. Senior High Sunday School meets in Room 108 at 9:30AM each Sunday morning September - May.
The program consists of regular Sunday School and Worship attendance, service to others, retreats and workshops and social events. There is also an optional week-long trip to Lutherock/Lutheridge during the summer. Click here to view our calendar of events for 2013-14.
Finally, students participate in several fundraisers throughout the year to support service projects and the defray the cost of summer trips.

"Keep these words that I am commanding you today in your heart. Recite them to your children and talk about them when you are at home and when you are away, when you lie down and when you rise. Bind them as a sign on your hand, fix them as an emblem on your forehead and write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates."
